Hailu Amerga is named on Wikipedia as a vocalist in Jano Band, the Addis Ababa group whose infobox gives the years 2011–2019 and the genres Ethiopian music, progressive rock, and acoustic. The article says the band was formed in 2011 by entrepreneurs Ermyas Amelga and former manager Addis Gessesse; the lead sentence also names Bill Laswell among the founders. It describes two female lead and backing vocalists, two male lead vocalists, and four instrumentalists. Hailu is listed with the vocalists, alongside Dibekulu Tafesse, Hewan Gebrewold, and Haleluya Tekletsadik. No solo birth date or hometown for Hailu appears on that page or on the chart files used below, so this profile does not invent one. The September 2026 recordings that chart under his own name are treated separately from the band discography, because the fetched pages do not say they are the same songs.
Jano’s debut album Ertale is dated 26 June 2012. Wikipedia calls the title a portmanteau of the volcano in Afar and says songs were written partly by lyricist Yilma Gebreab and partly by the band. It calls the album the first rock album in Ethiopia and says “Ayrak” spread quickly in Ethiopian media. After an April 2012 debut at the Sheraton Addis and Club H2O, the band played Bahir Dar, Dessie, Jimma, and Arba Minch, then left for dates in Europe, the United States, Israel, and the Middle East. The page’s tour list also names Brazil, Jamaica, Japan, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
Hailu’s name is attached to specific songs, not to every title. At the September 2015 Club H2O concert, Wikipedia says “Erikum” was performed by Hailu. The non-album table credits “Yinegal” (2015) and “Erikum” (2016) to him as vocalist, and says “Yinegal” was nominated for a Leza radio listeners’ choice award in 2016. The second album, Lerasih New, is dated 1 February 2018. Later singles on the page (“Tikur Almaz,” “Rega,” “Abeba Ena Nib”) carry other vocal credits. The 2020 section describes solo releases by Hewan, Haleluya, and Dibekulu. It does not describe a Hailu solo album. The band site in the infobox is jano.band.
The 2026 chart name is a different public trail. YouTube’s oEmbed record for the video ethio.music uses is “Hailu Amerga & Dawit Tsige – Keteraraw mado (Concert Video),” author Hailu Amerga, channel @hailujano: watch. The desk classifies that upload Likely official: it is on the channel bearing his name and credits Dawit Tsige, and it is a concert video rather than a packaged single with a label line. Kworb’s YouTube Ethiopia weekly chart ending 10 September 2026, copied into the 20 September sources snapshot, had Keteraraw Mado at No. 1 for a third week, with 1,043,666 weekly streams. The same snapshot’s daily board dated 2026/09/17 had it at No. 3 with 230,203 streams. ethio.music’s frozen Amharic Secular board for the week ending 17 September kept it at No. 1 (902,626). The week ending 24 September has it at No. 2 (700,057). Daily notes citing Kworb put it at No. 1 again on 2026/09/21 (203,202), No. 2 on 2026/09/22 (181,363), No. 3 on 2026/09/23 (178,188), and No. 2 on 2026/09/26 (209,972) and 2026/09/27 (237,936), behind Zuse’t’s Bahir dar on those last dates.
A second, non-YouTube trace is on the sources snapshot only. radio-ethiopia.com’s top-songs page, fetched 20 September 2026, showed three Hailu Amerga titles tied at the top of that page’s play list: “Shege,” “Nafeke Nafeke,” and “Elel Alech Nefse,” 20 plays each on the stations the page was counting. The snapshot’s own limitation applies: those counts were dominated by a small set of monitored stations, especially Taem Radio, and are an airplay complement, not a national chart and not a substitute for the YouTube boards. No official audio link for those three titles was verified in this pass, so none is embedded.
