Madingo Afework’s official YouTube channel posted a 1-minute 42-second trailer titled “Madingo Afework – Ashara Album Coming Soon” on Oct 26, 2026. It came a day after the channel posted 10 visualizers from his debut album, Siyame Atahulat, and it gives listeners a title to watch for: Ashara.

The trailer gives no release date and no tracklist. Its cover art is labelled “New Music Album”. The description repeats the channel’s standard text, “Distribution By ©Geez Creative” and “© Copyright: Madingo Afework”, along with the line “Available now on all digital stores”. Ashara was not on Apple Music when ethio.music checked on Oct 27.
Is this the posthumous album?
In September, The Reporter said an album of 11 to 12 new songs, recorded before Madingo died in September 2022, would come out on this channel, which it said his daughter Dibora Madingo manages. The paper named lyricists and melodists including Fanta Wechefa and Yilma Gebreab. The trailer does not say whether Ashara is that album. The Reporter’s target, the end of Meskerem 2019 (Oct 10, 2026), has passed.

The description names no songwriters, arrangers, producers or other performers.
