Yo Mariyos (ዮ’ማሪዮስ, also written Yo Marios) is the Ethiopian rapper behind ባህር ዳር (Bahir Dar), the song at No. 1 on Kworb’s YouTube Ethiopia weekly chart dated 2026/10/01. The song salutes the Lake Tana city, and its Official Video went up on the Bridge Sounds channel on 18 September 2026. This profile sticks to the public record: the artist’s official channel, label uploads, distributor metadata, a Zehabesha release note and Kworb chart data. We found no interviews or press biography, so personal details are left out.
The official channel. The artist channel is @YoMariyos (channel ID UC2thIVXbRJS0r50wVRLQZ4A). Its About panel says it joined YouTube on 17 September 2025 and lists the United Arab Emirates as the channel country. We read that as a channel setting only; it does not tell us where the artist lives. On 5 October 2026 the channel showed 128K subscribers, 8,248,603 lifetime views and 14 videos. Its bio opens with “Came up from Lake Tana, flowin’ like Abay” and says he mixes “Ethiopian soul with street talk and real bars.” Those are the artist’s own words, not an ethio.music review. The channel links his official Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and YouTube Music pages.
A Bling Records start. The earliest release we could trace is ገጠር ግባ (Geter Geba), posted on 21 September 2025 by Bling TV and media, the channel of Bling Records. Its description calls him “a new Ethiopian upcoming hip hop star signed by bling records” and credits the beat to Pauly Beatz. That upload showed 5,339,285 views on 5 October. An official video for Geter Geba followed on the same channel on 28 November 2025 (2,693,015 views). The same day, ዝም አይነቅዝም (Zim Ayinekzm) went up as an Official Video on his own channel (3,442,729 views). Bling TV added ቅዳሜ (Kidame) on 2 January 2026.
The 2026 releases. This year brought official videos and a burst of streaming singles:
- ጉም ጉም (Gum Gum): Official Video on the artist channel, 14 March 2026 (3,463,617 views); the description credits the music to Papawewa
- ድግስ ነው (Deges New): Official Video posted 11 April 2026 jointly by Minew Shewa Tube and the artist channel. At 9,227,708 views it is his most-viewed official upload we found. The streaming single (10 April) carries ℗ 2026 Minew Shewa Entertainment, delivered by CD Baby
- Geter Geba (12 April), Zim Ayinekzm (15 April), Gum Gum (23 April) and Kidame (27 April): streaming singles under ℗ 2026 Yo Mariyos; the first, third and fourth were delivered by TuneCore
- ሸክ (Shek): a concert video on the artist channel, 3 May 2026
- ባህር ዳር (Bahir Dar): 18 September 2026, ℗ 2026 Bridge Sounds
Credits and features. The TuneCore metadata lists Yo Mariyos on vocals on all three TuneCore singles, as recording engineer on Geter Geba, as mastering engineer on Gum Gum and Kidame, and as producer on Gum Gum. That producer credit differs from the video description, which names Papawewa, so we report both. Songwriting on all three is credited to “Eyuel yosief mariyo.” He also appears as a guest: on Konjo Zenit (feat. Ablex & Yo Mariyos) from Meek1one’s 12-track album Mewcha (15 May 2026, ℗ Lela Music Group), and on Micky Gonderegna’s single Bellew (feat. Yo Mariyos), out 2 October 2026 (℗ Bolale Records). Apple Music files Geter Geba and Bahir Dar under Hip-Hop/Rap, and Bling Records calls him a hip hop artist.
“Bahir Dar.” The Official Video (watch, 5:23) was published on 18 September 2026 by Bridge Sounds, and YouTube lists Bridge Sounds and Yo Mariyos as collaborating channels. The description reads “Produced by BRIDGE SOUNDS” and “Copyright ©2026 Bridge sounds Entertainment.” The song came out the same day on Spotify, under the artist profile his channel links to, and on Apple Music, which carries ℗ 2026 BRIDGE SOUNDS and tags it Hip-Hop/Rap, African and Afro-Pop. Zehabesha’s Alyou Tebeje wrote it up on 19 September as a song that celebrates Bahir Dar (our News 155). The video showed 2,594,093 views on 5 October. ethio.music classifies it as Official, since it sits on the producing label’s channel and is co-listed with the artist channel.
The chart run. On Kworb’s YouTube Ethiopia weekly chart dated 2026/10/01, ባህር ዳር (Bahir Dar), credited to Yo Mariyos, is No. 1 with 648,662 streams in its second charting week and its first week at the top. It is a photo finish: Teddy Afro’s Shih Bibal (Back to 90s) is No. 2 (635,378) in its 25th week, and Hailu Amerga’s Keteraraw Mado is No. 3 (633,251). Only 15,411 streams separate first from third.
A tangled credit trail. Kworb’s boards have not agreed on whose “Bahir Dar” this is. On the daily chart dated 2026/09/22, a ባህር ዳር (BAHIR DAR) credited to Jacky Gosee was new at No. 3 with 139,164 streams. On 2026/09/23 the No. 1 was Bahir dar credited to Zuse’t, up two places with 268,496 (+129,332), which works back to exactly that 139,164. The daily boards kept the Zuse’t credit through 2026/09/29, the newest daily when we checked, where it was No. 3 (150,679). The weekly ending 2026/09/24 also carried the Zuse’t credit, new at No. 5 (542,882). The 2026/10/01 weekly now credits Yo Mariyos, and Kworb marks it up one place with 115,245 fewer streams than the week before, figures that do not match the board we saved, which suggests YouTube restated the prior week. Kworb does not link these rows to specific uploads, so we cannot say which video YouTube counted. For scale, on 5 October the Bridge Sounds Official Video had 2,594,093 views, while the two Zuse’t Bahir dar uploads had 53 and 1,016. YouTube’s Top Songs charts add up plays of the official recording across official videos, lyric videos and user uploads that use the song (YouTube Help).
For the Official Video desk, Yo Mariyos is the new name at the top this week: a rapper whose earliest traceable release came through Bling Records in September 2025, with four label or artist-channel uploads above 3 million views and now a city song at No. 1 on the weekly board. Playback on ethio.music uses only the Bridge Sounds, Minew Shewa and artist-channel uploads, never unofficial reuploads.
